What to expect

Calm seas, crystal clear waters, otters swimming by…. Maybe! A trip with us is going to be full of beautiful scenery wherever we go. We’ll paddle along the coast, enjoy the views, bob about to enjoy widlife sightings, find interesting rock formations, secluded coves, land on little beaches… this all is what you are looking forward to.

But some people may actually be a bit nervous about going kayaking on the sea. Rest assured, our highly trained and experienced team will look after you, coach you through the challenges and make sure you are safe.

To let you see what to expect, and put your fears at rest, we have created a few videos that talk you through what is going to happen during your trip before you set out, what you do in case you capsize and what happens at the end. Don’t worry, you don’t need to learn this by heart. We will talk you through it again when you go out with us.

Introduction

How to get into a sea kayak

How to land on a beach and get out of the sea kayak

Our Safety Brief before setting off How to get your Spray Deck off if you capsize

What to do if you capszie

This looks like it’s all very serious. Don’t worry, we normally get onto the water within an hour of you arriving, and that includes getting changed, carrying the boats down to the water and a safety brief. Going back and getting changed doesn’t take very long at all, so we aim to give you 2 hours on the water on a half day trip and 5-6 on a full day trip (with breaks), so that you have plenty of time to enjoy the kayaking and the scenery.
